How did I get here? (From dreaming to blogging)/ ¿Cómo llegué aquí? (De soñar a bloguear)

The story I want to share this time is, yes, how did I get here. What made me join the many people who write online. How did I even think I could handle this? I decided to start a blog. I decided to start writing about many different things. Let me tell you how it happened.

I have a full time job. I am a Health Information Management Analyst. In other words, I review medical reports all day. I am also married and a mom of 2 sons. Plenty to keep me busy. My youngest son is now an adolescent in middle school, so he doesn’t need my constant supervision (honestly, he still does, but I let it slide sometimes). I need “me-by-myself” time. I’ve always put them first. I watch all superhero movies, all action movies, sports on TV, including baseball, basketball, and wrestling. Yes, wrestling. I take them to those wrestling events when they come into town. I actually love baseball, so that one I do enjoy watching.

Then I found a TV station that was showing romantic comedies constantly. Every day! I don’t watch TV series because many times I end up missing an episode, then I can’t catch up, someone dies, and forget it. But movies, romantic-comedic movies with a happy ending? Yes, I found something perfect for me. You guessed it, the Hallmark Channel. I clarify here that I am just a fan, I have no rights or access to any production or merchandise. I watched randomly, a movie here and there. And then Countdown to Christmas was announced (October 2017), then Hallmark started promoting “come join us on Twitter to live-Tweet with the actors”. What? I had people invite me to join Twitter before. Not interested, not for me. Hallmark is inviting me to join Twitter, to chat with the actors? Yes, I did sign in.

I immediately became a #Hallmarkie fan. I started posting, tweeting, and people started following me. I’m a private person, so I am very paranoid of people “following” me, but if you like Hallmark and write about Hallmark, sure, I’ll follow back.

These people on Twitter had all a positive disposition, and all like Hallmark. I felt I finally found people like me. Except that some of them have crazy funny names: The Hallremark, Girl gone Hallmark, Hallmark my Words, Rachel’s Reviews, The Hallmark Hubby, the Hallmarkies Podcast, just to mention a few.

I started following the actors, and then doing hashtags. I found “Hearties”, “POstables”, “Goodies”, “Chessies”, “Brennies”, “Sleuthers”, “Darcies”, etc. On Twitter, I started following writers and bloggers. I was then thinking I have so many ideas and stories, I should start writing. I love happy endings. I have ideas for a story or two.

And here I am, one year later, a self-proclaimed #HallmarkNerd. I have over 300 followers, and I was surprised to see that I have over 22 thousand tweets! I have started writing. Not only I am writing a blog, but also a couple of romance stories. My head is spinning with ideas. So I make time to write. I get home, take a couple of hours and write. I have a spot by a window, because looking at the sky, and all the clouds and colors, give me inspiration.

¿Cómo llegué aquí? (De soñar a bloguear)

La historia que quiero compartir esta vez es, sí, cómo llegué aquí. Lo que me hizo unirme a las muchas personas que escriben en Internet. ¿Cómo pensé que podría manejar esto? Decidí comenzar un blog. Decidí comenzar a escribir sobre muchas cosas diferentes. Déjame contarte cómo sucedió.

Tengo un trabajo de tiempo completo. Soy Analista de Manejo de Información de Salud. En otras palabras, reviso informes médicos todo el día. También estoy casada y soy madre de 2 hijos. Bastante para mantenerme ocupada. Mi hijo menor ahora es un adolescente en la escuela intermedia, por lo que no necesita mi supervisión constante (honestamente, todavía la necesita, pero a veces lo dejo pasar). Necesito tiempo para “mí-conmigo”. Siempre los he puesto primero. Veo todas las películas de superhéroes, todas las películas de acción, los deportes en la televisión, incluso el béisbol, el baloncesto y la lucha libre. Sí, la lucha libre. Los llevo a esos eventos de lucha cuando vienen a la ciudad. Bueno, me encanta el béisbol, así que es algo que yo disfruto.

Entonces encontré una estación de televisión que mostraba comedias románticas constantemente. ¡Todos los días! No veo series de TV porque muchas veces termino perdiendo un episodio, luego no puedo ponerme al día, alguien muere y ya olvídalo. ¿Pero películas, películas románticas y cómicas con final feliz? Sí, encontré algo perfecto para mí. Lo has adivinado, el canal Hallmark. Aclaro aquí que sólo soy un fan, no tengo derechos ni acceso a ninguna producción o mercancía. Vi al azar, una película aquí y allá. Y entonces se anunció Countdown to Christmas (octubre de 2017), luego Hallmark comenzó a promover “únase a nosotros en Twitter para chatear en vivo con los actores”. ¿Qué? Estas personas en Twitter tenían una disposición positiva, y a todas les gusta Hallmark. Sentí que finalmente encontré gente como yo. Excepto que algunos de ellos tienen nombres locos y divertidos: The Hallremark, Girl gone Hallmark, Hallmark my Words, Rachel’s Reviews, The Hallmark Hubby, Hallmarkies Podcast, solo por mencionar algunos.

Empecé a seguir a los actores y luego a hacer hashtags. Encontré “Hearties”, “POstables”, “Goodies”, “Chessies”, “Brennies”, “Sleuthers”, “Darcies”, etc. En Twitter, comencé a seguir a escritores y bloggers. Entonces pensé que tenía tantas ideas e historias que debería empezar a escribir. Amo los finales felices. Tengo ideas para una historia o dos.

Y aquí estoy, un año después, una auto-proclamada #HallmarkNerd. Tengo más de 300 seguidores y me sorprendió ver que tengo más de 22 mil tweets. Y he empezado a escribir. No sólo estoy escribiendo un blog, sino que también un par de historias románticas. Mi cabeza está girando con ideas. Así que hago tiempo para escribir. Llego a la casa, tomo un par de horas y escribo. Tengo un lugar junto a una ventana, porque mirar el cielo y todas las nubes y colores, me inspiran.
