Let’s Talk Hallmark: 2016 Countdown to Christmas
July 2023 – Hello! I thought I’d take a break from my busy life and do something I enjoy: watch Hallmark movies and write about them. While it’s hot outside (it’s always hot in Florida), I see snowy towns and people wrapped up in warm sweaters on my TV screen.
It’s the time of the year for “Hallmark’s Christmas in July,” when Christmas movies come back to our screens on Hallmark’s cable network stations. The Hallmark brand company started sponsoring Christmas-themed movies in 1951. It was in 2009 when Hallmark actually launched the “Countdown to Christmas” movie schedule and it was an immediate hit. In 2021, Hallmark decided to swap some of the movies that premiered in one station to the other, giving the opportunity to the fans to see movies they might have missed when they first premiered.
As always, I like to remind all readers that, even though I love the movies, I’m only a fan. I have no rights or access to any production or merchandise. None. But if you’re interested, you may visit the website HallmarkChannel.com. I check the Hallmark Channel page every day! I check the merchandise page too! See all they have in stores here Hallmark.com. The pictures above, and all images/posters used for this post are from Hallmark Media Holdings.
I’ve been working hard, but happily, doing this research. This is my tenth post about the Hallmark Christmas movies. I love them all!
2019 marked the 10th anniversary of “Countdown to Christmas” movie presentation. Last year, 2022, Hallmark network added 42 premieres between both stations -Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries’ Miracles of Christmas, three of those premiered in July.
In the year 2016, a total of 26 Christmas-themed movies premiered. 19 were part of the Countdown to Christmas on Hallmark Channel and 7 were part of the It’s a Wonderful Time of the Year (now known as Miracles of Christmas) on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. I was not yet watching premieres, but I’ve seen most of these movies.
Because the list for 2016 is quite large, I skipped the description of the movies. All information was retrieved from the Hallmark network websites (Hallmark Channel,Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Drama). Let’s take a look:

These are the premieres from the year 2016. I’ve actually seen 24 of the 26 movies! I enjoy watching these movies, no matter what time of the year it is. And I hope you enjoy this summary, as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Yes, there are many more movies still to cover. I’ll be writing some more. I have plenty more to add, more to write about, and more movies to watch and love. I love writing, I love Christmas, and I love Hallmark movies. It’s time for my tacita de café. Salud!
